How should you come to the assessment?

Diagnosing urinary or genital symptoms in men needs careful attention from the patient too. For accurate laboratory results, please follow these instructions:

Critical instructions:

  • 7-day rule: Do not use any antibiotics, antifungals or topical antiseptic creams in the week before the test.
  • Urination rule: Before the urethral discharge test, do not urinate for at least 2 hours, because the urine stream washes the pathogens out of the urethra.

Special tests:

  1. Urethral sampling: This is done with a thin swab, which may cause brief discomfort but is essential for an accurate result.
  2. Prostate diagnostics: If needed, we perform a prostate massage and then analyse the fluid released (or the urine passed afterwards).
  3. Semen analysis: A sample produced into a sterile container after 3-5 days of abstinence is needed. If you produce the sample at home, it must be brought to the clinic chilled (4°C) within 2 hours.
  4. HPV screening: A painless scraping of cells from the surface of the glans and foreskin.
