Overview
At Sabjanics Medical Center, the aim of psychiatric care is to relieve symptoms effectively, to restore the body's chemical balance, and to preserve the patient's quality of life and capacity for work.
When should we see a specialist psychiatrist?
Disorders of mental health require the same medical attention and expertise as physical illnesses. Please turn to us with confidence if you experience any of the following:
- Severe mood disorders: Lasting, deep sadness and a sense of hopelessness (depression), or an unjustifiably heightened state, racing thoughts and sleeplessness.
- Severe anxiety and panic: When fear comes with physical symptoms (breathlessness, chest tightness, fear of dying) and limits your everyday life.
- Sleep disorders: Long-term insomnia or abnormal sleepiness that affects how you function during the day and your zest for life.
- Disorders of thought and perception: If you feel your sense of reality has changed, you hear unusual sounds, or you have frightening thoughts that others find hard to understand.
- Addictions: For problems with alcohol, medicines or other substances, and for behavioural addictions.
- Mental changes in older age: For memory problems, confusion or sudden personality changes (suspected dementia).
The most common conditions treated by psychiatry
Depression and mood disorders Medical treatment of mood swings, helping you regain your energy and emotional stability.
Anxiety disorders and panic disorder Addressing the biological basis of disabling anxiety and reaching a symptom-free state with modern treatments.
Psychosomatic conditions Treatment of physical symptoms (e.g. chronic pain syndromes) that are driven by mental strain, where other specialties have found no physical cause.
The course of the psychiatric examination
With us, the examination begins with an in-depth, discreet and confidential conversation, where you can feel completely safe.
- Exploration: A detailed look at your symptoms, family background, past illnesses and important life events.
- Mental state examination: The doctor uses specific criteria to assess your thinking, emotional responses, memory and attention.
- Diagnosis and treatment plan: The specialist makes a diagnosis and recommends treatment, which may be medication, psychotherapy or a combination of the two.
- Follow-up appointments: Ongoing monitoring and fine-tuning of your medication for the greatest effect with the fewest side effects.
How should you prepare for the examination?
Please bring your previous medical records and a list of all the medicines you are currently taking. Honesty is important: the psychiatrist does not judge, but provides expert help towards recovery.

When should we see a dermatologist?
Changes in the skin are easy to see, so proper treatment of symptoms noticed in time guarantees faster healing and a more pleasing cosmetic result. See our specialist if you notice any of the following:
- Changes in moles: If a mole changes colour, shape or size, its edge becomes blurred, or it starts to itch or bleed (yearly screening is recommended even without symptoms!).
- Rashes and eczema: Recurring redness, or itchy, dry or weeping patches appearing anywhere on the body.
- Acne and inflammation: Persistent spots that do not improve with home treatment, or that heal with scarring.
- Fungal infections: Thickening or discolouration of the nails, or peeling and itching of the skin between the toes.
- Hair loss and scalp complaints: For patchy or increased hair loss, or stubborn dandruff and scalp irritation.
- Skin growths: Warts, skin tags, or any newly appeared wound that will not heal, or a lump.
The most common conditions treated in dermatology
Skin cancer screening (melanoma screening) The most important preventive examination, in which we check your moles with a dermatoscope. With skin cancers, early detection can save lives.
Inflammatory skin conditions Treatment of atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis and rosacea with modern topical products and systemic therapies.
Viral and bacterial infections Professional and discreet care of common and genital warts (HPV), shingles, herpes and various skin inflammations.
How a dermatology examination proceeds
With us, the examination is thorough and covers every detail. Our aim is to find the exact cause of the symptoms and to set out an effective treatment.
- Medical history: A detailed discussion of when symptoms started, whether they run in the family, the cosmetics you use and the medicines you take.
- Physical examination: Inspection of the whole skin surface in natural or special lighting.
- Dermatoscopy: Examination of moles and growths with a special handheld microscope (a dermatoscope), which also allows the deeper structures of the skin to be analysed.
- Additional tests: If needed, a sample for culture (fungi, bacteria), a biopsy (tissue sample) or an allergy test may be ordered.
How should you prepare for the examination?
Please come to the examination without make-up or nail varnish, as these can hide lesions. It is worth making a list of the skincare products and medicines you currently use, as these give the doctor important information.
