When is an occupational health examination needed?

Under current regulations, a specialist fitness assessment is required in the following cases:

• Before starting work: The pre-employment fitness examination confirms that the new employee’s health meets the requirements of the job.
• Periodic review: A mandatory check at set intervals, depending on how hazardous the job is and the employee’s age.
• Extraordinary examination: Mandatory after more than 30 days of incapacity for work (longer sick leave), or when changing jobs.
• Exit examination: When employment ends, if the employee was exposed to a lasting health risk (e.g. heavy physical strain).
