Mental health

Mental health care is not just about the absence of mental illness, but about protecting and building mental wellbeing and finding balance amid everyday challenges. At Sabjanics Medical Center, we believe that physical healing and wellbeing are impossible without mental stability and inner harmony.

Overview

A mental health counsellor helps you recognise your own inner resources, manage stress more effectively, and cope successfully with difficult life situations.

When should you see a mental health counsellor?

Caring for your mental health is as natural as having regular medical check-ups. It is worth seeing a professional if you notice the following:

  • Difficulties managing life: If you feel stuck on an important decision, or struggle to find your place in your private life or career.
  • Long-term stress and burnout: When everyday tension already shows up as physical symptoms (sleep problems, tiredness, irritability).
  • Crisis situations: When working through divorce, grief, job loss or other major life changes.
  • Coping with chronic illness: When accepting and living with a diagnosis (such as diabetes or a musculoskeletal condition) needs emotional support.
  • Self-esteem problems: If you often struggle with insecurity, low self-confidence or a need to please others.
  • Wish for self-knowledge: If you want to understand your own patterns and emotional reactions better and improve your relationships.

The main areas of mental health support

Crisis intervention Support after sudden, stressful life events, helping you regain your emotional balance and ability to act.

Stress management and relaxation Learning techniques that help reduce tension, preventing psychosomatic illness.

Relationship and communication counselling Recognising the patterns behind family, relationship or workplace conflicts and developing more effective, assertive communication skills.

What happens in a mental health consultation

Our sessions take place in a safe, non-judgemental setting with complete confidentiality.

  1. First consultation: Exploring your current difficulties, agreeing on goals together and building a relationship of trust.
  2. Assessing your situation: Together we map out your current life situation, relationships and inner resources.
  3. Supportive conversations: Regular sessions (usually 50 minutes) where we use guided dialogue to develop strategies for finding solutions.
  4. Closing: Summarising the results achieved, consolidating the changes and setting down future coping strategies.

Please note that a mental health counsellor does not provide psychotherapy or prescribe medication; if a clinical disorder is suspected, we will help you find the right specialist (a psychiatrist).

How should you prepare for the consultation?

No special preparation is needed. All it takes is openness, and the recognition that your mental wellbeing deserves time and expert attention.
